Apparently

Today's entry is brought to you by the letter "A", as in "Apparently, there will not be time to return your exams during lecture today ... "

Ap·par·ent·ly
adv.

1. Visibly. [Obs.] Hobbes.

2. Plainly; clearly; manifestly; evidently.

If he should scorn me so apparently. - Shak.

3. Seemingly; in appearance; as, a man may be apparently friendly, yet malicious in heart.

Thanks to Answers.com for the definition. In the above sentence, I believe meaning #3 was intended, much to my chagrin.

MPIII

Well, I just realized that I've yet to plug an interesting Web page, even though that's apparently one of the reasons I started this blog in the first place (see header banner). OK, nobody likes a list of links, anyway, but here's one that I like: [MPIII].

It's an online music community that I've been part of since the summer of 2004. Contrary to what you might think from the title, it's not an MP3-sharing site, at least not in the usual sense. Live DJ sets are linked to, but all the links are to legal music, and the site doesn't host any music of its own (well, maybe I should say, to the best of my knowledge; any they do host are almost certainly from member DJs). It's a great community, and I wish I got to visit it more often.

Oh, if you're into trance, prepare to be teased! ;)

Getting there

Well, I've added one additional review/admin task, but struck a few others off the list. Now I'm looking at:

- review AmNat manuscript
- read Lovell essays
- review Ecography manuscript
- read Animal Care protocols
- review NSF grant
- revise gradients manuscript
- revise Libellula manuscript

in about that order. In a week's time, I am supposed to have done the first four tasks (if I don't do tasks #2 and #4, it will show at the respective meetings!).

Not quite out of it yet, but it's feeling a bit more manageable. Sending my manuscript back to the journal's editorial office late last night certainly gives me some breathing room. If they like it, then it looks like it will be published in June, which sounds good to me! Fingers crossed on the one currently in review...
